It’s official! The Canon 5D mkiii was revealed today and its no surprise that this latest model has evolved into something better. It is somewhere between an upgrade of the Canon 7D and a preview of the 1DX features. Some may argue that the $1000 increase compared to the MKII is not justified for photo purposes, I think video producers will love the newest features.
First off, with the Digic 5+ processor, there should be a reduction in moire, aliasing, and rolling shutter. Secondly, users will have the ability to monitor audio from the MKIII, it has a stereo mic output, and most importantly…..A HEADPHONE JACK!
However, there are some cons to the MKIII. At 50/60 fps, it is still at 720p. I think we are at a point where we can finally get that 1080. Also, the hd output is also 720 so you won’t have the full video when feeding out to an external monitor.
Canon has not made any official announcement for a price reduction for the Canon 5D mkii.
